Can rainwater supply a home in Texas?

Yes. With properly sized storage and collection area, many homes across Texas rely solely on rainwater as their primary household water supply, often using 10,000 gallons or more of storage depending on occupancy and roof size.

Whole-home rainwater systems are designed around roof area, household demand, drought patterns, and how storage integrates with the property. Across Texas, especially in areas with limited groundwater or no municipal utility service, rainwater is a proven primary water source for many homes.

Why is rainwater system design important?

Rainwater systems aren’t plug-and-play. Every site is different and requires different approaches. Rooflines, topography, usage goals, and aesthetics all factor in.

A well-designed system ensures you collect enough water, maintain quality, and avoid costly mistakes down the line. It’s the difference between something that just works and something that works well for decades
